Korean Fall Harvest Chusok

Chuseok, often called Korean Thanksgiving, is one of Korea's most cherished holidays, celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month (this year falling in early autumn). It marks the harvest season and is a time for families to gather, honor ancestors through a ceremony called charye, and give thanks for the year's blessings. Traditional customs include preparing songpyeon (half-moon shaped rice cakes), wearing hanbok, visiting ancestral hometowns, and enjoying folk games and shared meals. At its heart, Chuseok is about gratitude, connection, and honoring the generations who came before.

KACC Houston's Chuseok Volunteer Outreach

In the spirit of Chuseok's emphasis on family and respect for elders, the KACC Houston will be dedicating volunteer time to connect with senior members of the local Korean community.
